Maintaining your gas fireplace:
Gas fireplaces require routine maintenance in order to continue to operate at peak performance and safety levels.  Most manufacturer's recommend a service schedule of every 1-2 years in the fireplace owner's manual so be sure to check yours and schedule a service call before your fireplace maintenance requirements are overdue.  We consider our service calls to be fireplace restoration services.   Our technicians pay strict attention to detail while checking and servicing fireplace components.

From Shell Busey's HouseSmart in THE PROVINCE Feb.21,2003:

Q:  I have been having trouble with my fireplace.  It comes on sometimes and not at all at other times.  I've had a repair man in several times but it has not made any difference.  I am inclined to think that it is a problem with the wiring between the fireplace and the switch.  Could you recommend someone whom I could get to fix this problem?  The fireplace man assured me that there is nothing wrong with the switch or the fireplace but it just won't work after spending $200 and buying a new switch.  I'd appreciate any suggestions you could give me.        Dorothy, Surrey
A:  You mention that you have had a repair person in to look at your natural-gas insert.  I take it from your frustrations that they may not have been well qualified.  Please call Klayne at Gasland in South Surrey at 604-536-4502.  He is an expert on natural-gas and propane-fired stoves and fireplace inserts.
