Joe's Lawnmowers & Woodstoves circa 1975

Gasland has the distinction of being
one of the longest standing fireplace
and lawnmower shops in Surrey, and
has been at its present location since
1982.

Grandpa Joe's Lawnmower Shop started it all in 1970 when he and Grandma opened up
Joe's Lawnmowers and Woodstoves at the corner of 24th and 152nd Street.
You could find just about anything in Grandpa's shop, such as lawnmowers, chainsaws,
woodstoves, and an unlimited supply of used parts in his unique "lawnmower graveyard."

Joe's employed 11 family members, including his daughter Dorothy and grandchildren Kim and Klayne.
Klayne, being only 7 years old when he started, took apart more lawnmowers than he repaired.
Joe was a well respected member of the South Surrey/White Rock community and the Elks Club.
In  September 1982 he retired and the old shop site was demolished.

Gasland Store Front today

In October 1982 the family
opened the new store at its
current location
2418 King George Highway,
South Surrey, BC

Joe's daughter Dorothy, and his grandchildren Kim and Klayne own and operate Gasland today.
Dorothy's years of experience and knowledge are unmatched in the industry, although
she dreams of soon retiring and traveling North America in her RV.  Kim, our "Chainsaw Queen"
will knock your socks off with her ability to answer your questions on the sales floor, and she is
also our lawn & garden parts department manager.  Klayne is our sales and gas fireplace service
department manager.  He is a licensed gas fireplace service technician and his experience is
backed by the fact that he has serviced thousands of gas fireplaces over the years.

At Gasland, we're big on recycling.  We do our best to keep retired lawnmowers, barbeques,
fireplaces and other old parts and equipment like blades and chains out of the landfill by
recycling as much scrap metal as we can.  We recycle old oil filters, used waste oil and fuel,
and used oil containers from our repair center.  We recycle our cardboard and paper, and
we reuse packaging materials like bubble wraps and foam as much as possible.

We take pride in participating in community events such as the Sea Festival Parade.
In the past we have also sponsored lawnmower drag races and blower races.

A visit to Gasland is fun for all ages, and our store is known as a "Grown Man's Candy store."
Your kids will find Gasland an enjoyable stop.  We understand that some large purchases
require a bit of time to decide upon, and we do our best to make your shopping easy.
We feature videos for the children and a large selection of cool toys to entertain them.

We invite you to come and experience the personal service and integrity that Gasland has to offer.
We hope to see you soon!
